HPAC is dedicated to providing avalanche information and advisories for the Hatcher Pass area in the Talkeetna Mountains of Alaska. This information is intended to be used in conjunction with your personal hazard evaluation in the backcounrty.

While we understand that completely eliminating the risk of avalanche hazards is unlikely if a person chooses to enter avalanche terrain on a regular basis, it is our belief that limiting the number of times a person does this during significant avalanche cycles can make a difference. Sometimes all it takes is an advisory that is available to inform the backcountry users of the actual hazard. This has been a proven effective tool in other states.

As a secondary mission, we are hoping to aid in creating and maintaining the culture of snow safety in conjunction with the culture of advanced riding, skiing and snowmachining.
